  4. deeboanyone implemented a dynamically tagged gauge in micrometer? trying to add per-route connection pool statistics from apache httpclient5, but looks like micrometer doesn't work like this
  5. deebothey have a dynamic "row" MultiGauge, but it's updated manually, not observed by the metrics exporter
  6. deeboi could hard code the known routes like: https://service1:443, https://service2:443 to register metrics, but that's annoying to keep updated
  7. deebohmpf should've googled before doign anything, plenty prs/tickets open for both micrometer and hc5 about it, with no answers
  8. deeboand their updated metrics tooling does not achieve this for the connection pool, only for other metrics and spans in traces, and there's no public api to hook into
  9. NeXeNdeebo: i dunno man, i'm looking over the docs. they seem immutable

  14. NeXeNit's kinda early and i think i am a cafienabetic
  15. NeXeNevery morning i wake up and my caffiene level is so damn low, i'm dizzy and i can't even read source code
  16. NeXeNsometimes i pass out again, you know, if it stays that way too long
  17. * NeXeN gets one of his rescue kcups
  18. NeXeNscrew the test, not enough time
  19. * NeXeN laughs. i tried to click on the service url to look at it
  20. NeXeNrealy i prefer to track metrics at the global level. rely on httpclient5-observation and just configure gauges to monitor overall pool statistics. i mean breaking down by dynamic routes? that's like really explosive high cardinality time series data .....i mean i've been there before ooooeee man don't go there
  21. NeXeNbut if you gotta go pre-route you might manually poll with some background poller to query the route states, clear internal stateholders, and update the gauge at fixed intervals
  22. NeXeNi'm not currently working with micrometer, it's been a minute, but i'm doing time series stuff right now in fact but in typescript
  23. NeXeNholy shit i just reread that monologue i just did and it sounds like my favourite youtube java guy that does those 10 second shorts and druinks the coffee
  24. * NeXeN needs coffee......aarrrggg...but....can't....drink the koolaid.....java flavoured koolaid.....oh man why did they have to come up with such a good flavour
  25. CandleGo get the coffee!
  26. NeXeNi was pondering deebo's questions. it does seem there's a dynamic row
  27. NeXeNit's always more fun to work on other's problems anwyays. god knows i don't need more problems of my own
